Marbles Field Trip

The Rand Road Kindergarten classes took a field trip to Marbles Kids Museum today. I debated up until the last minute as to whether or not the younger two monkeys and I would attend. On the one hand, it WAS Cassidy's first field trip, her first bus ride...I didn't want to miss that experience with her...AND the Type A part of my personality doesn't trust anyone else to watch over and protect my children, especially in a chaotic environment like Marbles (it doesn't help that I've watched one too many Criminal Minds episodes). On the other hand, it would be an exhausting task to keep track of lightning-fast Lily (and her terminal case of selective hearing) and the bull in a china shop we affectionately refer to as Finn. The chances of me actually getting to spend any time with or even watching Cassidy were slim to none.

But....Cassidy really wanted us to come (actually, I think she REALLY wanted Daddy to come and we were a passable consolation prize) and Lily was dying to go, so I caved, packed a backpack full of lunches, dropped Cassidy at school so that she could ride the bus with her friends, and headed into downtown.

The monkeys and I arrived well before the kindergartners...actually, we arrived before the museum opened. We were the first folks through the door and for the first 20 minutes we were the only people in the museum. It was fabulous! After that, we shared the museum with a handful of other families for about an hour until we were bombarded with hoards of school children.

When all was said and done, we spent 5 hours playing all over the museum and we only left because I had only paid for 5 hours of parking. :)

Driving the bus

Finn's turn...he got a fat lip trying to climb into the seat!

Firefighter Lily

They have a veterinarian area in the play city...Lily spent lots of time caring for the animals.

Meanwhile Finn mowed the grass.

Sporting their doctor's coats...Finn's cracks me up!

Lily was doing some serious cooking...Joey would have been so proud!

Another new exhibit...a pizzeria!

The monkeys busy making pizzas.

Finn working the register

Lily busy delivering pizzas

The new face of the hundred dollar bill!

Surfer Girl...the surf boards were mounted on springs so you could move forward, backward, left and right.

Hang ten, Finn!

Playing in the water station...despite his full body smock, he was soaked to the bone!

Lily's in  hog heaven!

We spent a lot of time playing dress-up and performing. Lily's favorite costume...a tutu and tap shoes!

Dr. Finn helps his precious patient.

Fast forward 13 years!

After having lunch with all the kindergarten classes, I checked Cassidy out with her teachers and then the four of us spent an extra hour playing before heading home. By that time, most of the morning school groups were gone and the afternoon groups were having lunch, so we pretty much had the place to ourselves! :)

Pet Vet Cassidy..."Open up and say 'AHHHH', kitty!"
