Our sweet Lilybug is 6 years old today. This time six years ago (12:05 a.m.) I was pacing our hospital room as she screamed ALL NIGHT LONG! How I longed for the sunrise that night because I knew it meant we could go home with Joey and Cassidy...and that if she decided to repeat her lung exercises the following evening I'd at least have my darling husband to help me! Mercifully she was much better behaved once we were all home and in our own beds, but the energy she displayed that night was a glimpse of the spunk, determination, and sheer will of our precious baby girl. She has brought so much fun, laughter, love, and passion into our lives and I am so humbled and honored to be her mother.
For months now Lily has been saying that she was going to have a slumber party for her birthday. She didn't ASK, mind you. She announced that she was having a slumber party...oh, and by the way, she was inviting her entire class! Ummmm, I don't think so. A couple of weeks ago, Joey and I caved and told her she could have ONE friend spend the night for her birthday and, of course, she wanted her BFF, Hannah. We painted fingernails and toenails, watched a Barbie movie. It was probably my most favorite kid birthday we've ever had...very mellow and intimate and the kids had an absolute blast!
