Since last year when Cassidy won the K-2 Irving Mims Character Award, Lily has been talking about how she really wanted to earn the award too. While that was an excellent goal - to have the best character possible - we tried to prepare her for the very likely possibility that she would not receive the award. After all, there are 500 or so kids at Rand Road and LOTS of them show good character.
That's why - to be perfectly honest - we were more than a little surprised when we got a call from the school couselor letting us know that Lily had won the Irving Mims Award for K-2 this year. This was absolutely a blessing from God since so many other children could have been chosen AND since we are homeschooling next year this was Lily's only opportunity to win the award. We were very happy for her - she was estatic! - and we are very proud of the good character she showed this past school year.
Here is some video from the award ceremony and from her class' kindergarten talent show...Lily did a Tang Soo Do demonstration! :)
