On our way into the zoo. The girls were fascinated with the large pieces of pottery lining the walkway. They wanted to touch every single one and I was dragging them along trying to get past the crowds of school children that were there on field trips. :)
We are SO excited to be at the zoo!!!
Sitting on the first of many animals that day...an aardvark!

What sweet smiles!

Two peas in a pod
Cassidy's favorite animal was the flamingo...because it was PINK, of course!
Lily, Daddy, and Cassidy inside the tropical aviary. Our favorite birds were the beautiful scarlet ibises. We were able to get very close to them.
Joey insisted we go see the 4-D movie about Africa. This is Lily in her 3-D glasses! :)
The girls did NOT like the movie...way too much stimilation. Not only was it REALLY loud and in 3-D (we're talking animals coming at you, sometimes while growling), but the seats vibrated and there were other special effects. They cried pretty much the whole time. Poor Joey couldn't enjoy it at all...and there was no escape once you were inside, so we just had to endure. :)
On the carousel
Enjoying a snack of ginger snaps
Lily and Daddy watching the bisen in North America
Lily's favorite thing was the bears...grizzly, black, and polar. Here she is telling the little boy next to us that the black bear is going to go swimming. He told her, "I don't think so!" That didn't deter her and she continued to talk to him...and rub his head and pat his back...the rest of the time we stood there. She would say, "Excuse me..." and then launch into whatever she wanted to say. It cracked me up!
Lily on a ladybug at the playground
Sliding down the giant leaf
Cassidy having a blast
We all had to measure ourselves against the polar bear. :)
Look how small Lily looks next to this giant!
One of my favorite stops of the day was to see the cougars. They looked so soft and cute and cuddly!
One of the other highlights of the day was seeing the otters. This guy was definately showing off the for the crowd and the girls, Cassidy especially, were thrilled. Cassidy named the otter Pip (from Bear in the Big Blue House) and kept asking him, "Where's Pop?" (the other otter from the show)
