Our Little Sunshines: First Birthday Fun!

We did little to celebrate Emerson's birthday on Wednesday - her actual birthday - other than to sing to her 100 times. Joey had to work late and we didn't want him to miss any of the festivities. Instead we had family over on Friday for dinner and birthday cake. The birthday girl was feeling pretty puny...the vaccinations she'd had the day before really did a number on her. (As I type this, she's still sporting a 102 temperature.) She wouldn't even eat any of her birthday cake yesterday or today. :( However she did enjoy all the fresh fruit at dinner, a long walk down the street with Gran, her birthday candle, and, of course, the presents! Our science activity on Emerson's birthday...making the relative sizes of the eight planets in our solar system using Play-doh, balloons and some balls. The kids had a blast with this...even the little ones joined in!

Emerson and Eli...these two are really starting to develop a special bond. He has really taken an interest in her lately and she thinks he's hilarious!
