Today Joey ran his 1st 5K in the Run for Habitat in Garner. Running by his side was our brother-in-law, Bailey. To the casual observer, this may have been an average Sunday afternoon of leisurely exercise, but for Joey finishing the race, running and not walking, was a major milestone. As with most things in life, in the end the race was not a physical battle, but a mental one, a test of determination and will, of refusing to quit, of pushing through the pain, of choosing to believe that you CAN endure more than you think you can. As he and Bailey crossed the finish line in just over 37 minutes, a crowd of family and friends was there to celebrate this accomplishment. We are so proud and are reminded of Philippeans 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me."
